Los Angeles./ 52

Image
Date: February 6, 2023 at 7:07:42 PM PST Weather: 58°F Clear Location: 7000 Hollywood Blvd, Los Angeles, California, United States A nice trip to LA with Katie for the big 52 (even though I froze my age at 38.) Runyon Canyon hike and smoothies after. Musso and Franks for birthday dinner - they have about 140 items on the menu. If I won the big lottery I would have lunch there every day until I finished the menu (two different items each day - I would save the grilled kidneys for a strong mental day at about the halfway point. But the marinated herring is calling my name. Feb 5th: Uber to Du-pars but the line was so long (our timing was off and we did not have the usual John and Katie early arrival plan.) Walked to a nice Italian pasta / pizza place instead. Dinner at Night & Market on Sunset after a quick stop at The Rainbow Bar which did live up to its reputation of heavy metal tomfoolery even though we were inside for nary 30 minutes. Would definitely return to both.

Nice 4.5 mile jog around the neighborhood this morning (9m51s pace). The temperature was 56F which I think might be perfect running weather? New camellias are budding - the red flowered ones have had blooms for a week or more. The white flowered ones are starting now.  Beautiful magnolias all around the city, and although it is cool, you can tell Spring is just around the corner.  Watching NFL playoffs with Katie and had a nice chat with Mom.

MAGA is a Cult

"The same tribalism and self-deception that led these two men to extreme lengths is endemic in the world of Republican voters. It's why Fox News exists: So that people who want to believe lies have a steady source they can plug into. Fox News drowns out unpleasant facts that can alienate people in red communities from friends, family, and neighbors." https://www.salon.com/2022/07/12/january-6-hearing-makes-it-clear-maga-is-a/

Worthless - Netquote Insurance Quote Company

I recently saw mention of Netquote no the Today Show. A caller had a question regarding home-owner insurance. One of the financial "experts" suggested filling out the online form with Netquote to generate competitive bids. As I am in the exact circumstance of needing to renew my home-owner policy I decided to give Netquote a shot. The first problem I encountered when filling out the form was my current policy writer was not listed, and Netquote wouldn't let me move through the form without picking a company. They didn't offer an "other" or "not listed" option. Perhaps this is where the system broke down. I finished filling out the questionnaire, and answered all the questions. I never received a call, nor a quote, nor a contact of any sort via email regarding my insurance request. I did get a "how'd we do?" email after a week or so. So, I know I made it into their database, and at least part of their process. I don't know a
